What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care aims to support people with advanced or progressive diseases such as cancer, motor-neurone disease, heart failure or other long-term conditions and to maximise quality of life for patients and their families.

If symptoms or needs are complex, then referral to the specialist palliative care service at John Eastwood Hospice may be appropriate.

The Specialist Palliative Care team includes consultants in palliative medicine, clinical nurse specialists, physio, occupational and complementary therapists, social worker, chaplain and clinical psychologist.
